Jordan Hoctor MA, BA hons , PGCE in secondary education(Kent, United Kingdom) creates mixed media artworks, photos, sculptures and installations. By using an ever-growing archive of found documents to create autonomous artworks, Her mixed media artworks are presented with the aim not to provide an idealistic view but to identify where light and the environment are important. Her works sometimes radiate a cold and latent violence. At times, disconcerting beauty emerges. The inherent visual seductiveness, along with the conciseness of the exhibitions, further complicates the reception of their manifold layers of meaning. By replaying the work for each exhibition and pushing the evocative power of the work a little further, she reflects on the closely related subjects of archive and memory.
Jordan received her BA in Visual Arts from the University of Kent and has recently completed an MA in Fine Art with the University for the Creative Arts. As a mixed media artist and author, she travels around the south east of England teaching fine art and mixed-media techniques.
